The worst song ever.

Simply put, a children’s song done by Hulk Hogan and produced by Jimmy Hart in the style of New Kids On The Block. Enjoy.

They don’t get an E for effort.

McMaster University is the most useless academic institution since that ill-fated Kabul School of Religious Tolerance. I am trying to take a couple summer courses that I need for my future profession and, naively, I thought it would be easy to apply to McMaster as a mature student to take them. Apparently, however, the process is infinitely more bureaucratic than anyone could every imagine. I’m fairly certain I spoke with at least 7 people from the Registrar’s office at the university because being allowed to get an application. Subsequent to submitting the application, I was informed that they would email me by the 28th as to whether I could take the courses. As of today, they still haven’t replied. I’m sure they are likely busy but this issue goes straight to one of the university’s core purposes: offering a good student experience.

I just hope that, in the future, McMaster will realize that good customer relations goes a long way towards attracting better students and creating greater respect among the populace. Poor customer relations just creatse more reasonable comparisons to Medix School and ITT Tech, except with worse service.

Another trailermash:

Rote Armee Fraktion

März 23, 2007

Foto kommt: Wikipedia.

Baader Meinhof

I’ve gotten away from music recently and I thought I should post a song by Luke Haines & the Auteurs from their clever greatest hit remake „Das Capital.“ The song is titled „Baader Meinhof“ and I suggest you give it a listen. This song is even more relevant now than it was when it was released and twice as contemporary – and, no, they don’t mean the same thing.

The grass is always greener if you water it occasionally

This seems like a fairly reasonable time to discuss where I am at in terms of my school year. I have to write a special final exam for one of my courses because the exam schedule created a huge foul up. The process for getting this special exam is bureaucracy at its finest. One, i have to make an appointment with a academic counsellor to get the form. That managed to take 3 days. After getting the form, I realized that I had to get 4 different signatures (prof, department head, dean, registrar) in order to reschedule the exam. This process is going to take me like 2 weeks now.

So now I can watch all of Tucker’s goals again and again.

Two hockey posts in a row, I know. However, I’m in a sporting frame of mind.

NHL.com has added a new feature where you can watch the nightly highlights of games.  It saves you from watching someone get „posterized“ in the basketball highlights or stupid banter about things like, for example, the Ryan Smyth trade.

No, I have not been traded to the New York Islanders.

I’ve begun to notice that the characteristic of covering a story to death (See: Anna Nicole Smith’s death or Elian Gonzalez) has begun to creep into the sports media. The most recent incidence of this has been Ryan Smyth’s trade to the New York Islanders. TSN, Sportsnet and The Score have all devoted an unconscionable amount of time portraying this story as some kind of epic struggle between two parties, all-encompassing greed, and poor negotiating skills all in one. I’ll give credit that Ryan Smyth is a good hockey player, but in no way is he the quality of Gretzky or Messier, two people who he has been recently compared with. Just look at his stats:

Year Team GP G A Pts +/- PIM

2003-04 EDM 82 23 36 59 11 70

2005-06 EDM 75 36 30 66 -5 58

2006-07 EDM 53 31 22 53 2 38

Those are decent numbers but certainly not earth-shattering. I’m sure some of you will note his leadership ability, playing for Canada etc. Simply, he got offered $5.4 million a season, and rejected it as too little money. So stop crying Ryan Smyth, and television networks, stop treating this as some sort of apocalyptic death knell to Edmonton.
